Papers, 1818-1891.

The Reid family papers consist primarily of letters to William Moultrie Reid, concerning the Reid family and other families of Charleston, S.C.; Princeton University; Harvard University (1818); Davidson College, Davidson, N.C. (1868); the Civil War in lower S.C., 1864; Christopher Gaillard and the Santee Light Artillery in the Civil War; and religious observances among Confederate troops. The collection also contains a number of William M. Reid's sermons, written mainly for funerals, and his diary (1854-1875), which concerns his daily routine and his ministerial duties.
